In order to make sure that your WebQuest stays aligned with your unit, you will need to copy and paste 3 things from your Stages 1 and 2 from Dr. Grace's wiki onto this page. (This will also help Dr. Theresa give you better feedback on your Intro, Task, and Conclusion.) Then you will write your first drafts of your Introduction and Conclusion.

G.R.A.S.P.S

( Feel free to copy and paste what you have on your wiki page for Dr. Grace for the GRASPS portion of your unit (Stage 2). Note that you don't need the Standards part, though you can include it if you want.)
Goal
Your task is to create a website on the unit circle for Khan Academy.
Role
You are recruits for Khan Academy's challenge.
Audience
The target audience is Khan Academy's CEOs.
Situation
The challenge involves with creating a 5-7 minute presentation explaining the website's features including a unit circle lesson and examples.
Product & Performance
You will create a website that provides a lesson on the unit circle and examples following the unit circle's lesson.

Understanding(s)

Students will understand that:

• the unit circle is universal in mathematics
• the unit circle is applied towards occupational jobs
• the unit circle is helpful when remembering trigonometric values

Students will be able to:
• demonstrate connections between the unit circle and trigonometric values
• illustrate different mathematical concepts that are applied when using the unit circle
• produce job-related scenarios that use the unit circle's concepts
• analyze the unit circle's properties
• consider ways of using the unit circle in job-related situations
• reflect on mathematical methods that are used when making the unit circle

Introduction

(Set the stage, give us any background info that we might need to know (but just a hint), this is your HOOK. Provide a segue to the Task . . . make your reader want to click to the next section. There should be nothing that sounds like school work in this section. Don't give away what's going to happen in the Task.)

CEO Salman Khan and Khan Academy have helped, assisted, and aided not only students and educators, but also regular people in understanding, grasping, and reviewing numerous academic courses and subjects. Since Salman Khan’s Khan Academy offers numerous verbal, visual, and auditory tutorials on certain subjects, teachers and administrators use Khan Academy in their lesson plans. It’s easy to understand voiceovers and visual dynamics of the subjects provide students engaging and educational lessons. Instead of continuing to repetitively make video tutorials, Salman Khan has developed a nation wide competition that will test your creativity, understandings within any mathematical unit, and customization of your own “Khan Academy” website.

Task

In an attempt to motivate adolescents in learning and understanding mathematics, Khan Academy has launched a new and engaging activity that asks students from schools around the United States to create a website that demonstrates their knowledge of mathematics. Khan Academy executives, especially Khan Academy's CEO Salman Khan, are on the hunt for new and creative websites that provide students, teachers, and mathematicians with an easy, engaging, and understanding access to mathematics. You and your group decided to participate in creating a mathematical website on the current mathematics lesson you and your group are studying on (unit circles), and present that website and its features in a 5-7 minute presentation at the next TED Talk Conference in Vancouver, Canada in front of Khan Academy's CEOs and Salman Khan.

Conclusion

(Tie everything the participants have done back to the Goal. Why did they go through all of this? Tie the scenario to the real world. Remind them of the "Big Idea" that they were supposed to gain from this, just in case they didn't make the connection on their own. Don't get preachy. If you ask a question here, it has to be rhetorical. No work or assignments should be included. Short is good.)

Salman Khan wants everyone to recognize that you and your group’s project was intended for all of you to comprehend and understand your mathematical unit in different ways. Instead of going through the emotions of solving mathematical problems, you and your group developed, solved, filmed, and displayed our own lectures and examples on your subject’s unit through visual, verbal, and auditory tutorials. Most importantly, Salman Khan wanted this competition to be not only educational, but also fun. Finally, Salman Khan and Khan Academy’s executives want to sincerely thank you for entering into their educational website design competition.
